Home Price Appreciation Data

The FHFA house price index is a repeat sales index created using using the values of mortgages sold to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

New Residential Construction Data

New home construction activity is tracked by building permits issued by local permitting office. The U.S. Bureau of the Census surveys these offices to provide monthly estimates of permitting activity by state and metropolitan area. In addition, local groups such as the Wichita Area Builders Association often track and publish new home construction data.

Labor Market Indicators

Monthly labor market indicators come from two primary sources. The Bureau of Labor Statistic's Current Employment Statistics program provides the official "jobs numbers," or estimates of employment by industry. Alternatively, the Local Area Unemployment Statistics program provides the data for the official unemployment rate statistics for local markets across the U.S.

Home Sales (MLS) Statistics

Each month, Kansas Realtor® boards compile home sales statistics based on activity through their affiliated multiple listing services.

Commercial Property Data

Each year, J.P. Weigand and NAI Martens survey commercial properties in the Wichita area and prepare reports detailing the state of the market. We've compiled the data from these forecasts here.
