Total nonfarm payroll employment in Kansas rose by 20,300 jobs in August, 1.4 percent above the same month in 2018. The Kansas unemployment rate was 3.2 percent in August, down from 3.3 percent a year earlier. The number of people unemployed across the state fell to 47,741 in August, a decline of 1.6 percent from the prior year, while the labor force fell by 0.2 percent to 1,480,339.
