TOTAL YEAR-OVER-YEAR SALES (new & existing):   In May, year-over-year (Y/Y) sales of Wichita-area single-family homes fell by 26.0%, dropping from 1007 sales in May 2008 to 745 sales last month.

NEW HOME SALES:   Sales of new single-family homes in the Wichita-area market fell to 95 from 146 in May 2008, which represents a 34.9% Y/Y decline. Year to date, sales are down 47.5% over the same period in 2008.

EXISTING HOME SALES:   May sales of existing single-family homes in the Wichita-area market decreased by 24.5%, dropping from 861 sales in May 2008 to 650 sales last month. Year to date, sales are down 26.3% over the same period in 2008.

MEDIAN SALE PRICE (existing homes):   For May, the median sale price of existing homes increased to $115,000 from the $105,250 that was posted in April.
