TOTAL YEAR-OVER-YEAR SALES (new & existing):   In October, year-over-year (Y/Y) sales of Wichita-area single-family homes increased by 0.8%, rising from 833 sales in October 2008 to 840 sales last month.

NEW HOME SALES:   Sales of new single-family homes in the Wichita-area market fell to 94 from 114 in October 2008, which represents a 17.5% Y/Y decline. Year to date, sales are down 34.8% over the same period in 2008.

EXISTING HOME SALES:   October sales of existing single-family homes in the Wichita-area market increased by 5.4%, rising from 708 sales in October 2008 to 746 sales last month. Year to date, sales are down 14.8% over the same period in 2008.

MEDIAN SALE PRICE (existing homes):   For October, the median sale price of existing homes increased to $107,000 from the $105,000 that was posted in October last year.
