Assistant Professor of Marketing and Center for Real Estate Research Fellow
Duane Nagel is a Research Fellow with the Center for Real Estate and an Assistant Professor of Marketing in the W. Frank Barton School of Business. Dr. Nagel’s research focuses on service interactions and how firms maximize value, retention and loyalty. Through his Center for Real Estate Research Fellowship, Dr. Nagel will investigate the unique challenges that real estate professionals face in this area. For example, a real estate agent cannot merely refund a customer’s money, or provided a discount of future services, or just redo the service in order off-set the negative outcomes that may occur in the selling or buying of a home. Moreover, in an industry reliant on customer referrals, the repercussions for the agent/firm may be long-term in the form of negative word-of-mouth (magnified by social media), potential legal action, and unhappy clients recommending to other potential customers they not to use the agent/firm.
