Total nonfarm payroll employment in Kansas rose by 98,800 jobs in April, 7.7 percent above the same month in 2020. The Kansas unemployment rate was 3.5 percent in April, down from 12.6 percent a year earlier. The number of people unemployed across the state fell to 52,717 in April, a decline of 71.8 percent from the prior year, while the labor force rose by 1.5 percent to 1,508,429.
