Industrial-related employment in Topeka rose by 1,100 in December to 20,400, an increase of 3.0 percent over the same month in 2016. Average industrial employment over the past 12 months was 20,433, up from 20,033 in the prior year. Each month, the Center for Real Estate estimates employment for different property types using data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Industrial employment includes the following supersectors: Mining and Logging, Construction, Manufacturing, Wholesale Trade, Transportation and Warehousing, and Utilities.
